Elder Hirst week 95

3:30 PM

Monday- Our final P day of this transfer wasn't too exciting. It's just getting way too hot and humid to want to be outside.  I feel like I'm in Florida right now, we're literally just drenched in sweat all the time.  But we all had a good bite to eat for lunch at "The Good burger" and took some missionaries to the bus station in order to leave.  That evening we had a family home evening with a few active and less active families in the ward in the house of a member, and one of the less active families invited their non member father who we actually are going to start teaching. Also, Lourdes and Erica were able to come and it was a good time.

Tuesday- they are closing the other elder's area in our ward so we had to go and help them pack and empty all the stuff out of their apartment. The ward is pretty sad about this, but it's motivating them to want to start working more so that's good.  Then we went to eat lunch at our new favorite restaurant here in Alicante called "Mr. Chicken." It's kind of like a chick filet type place and it's really good and well priced. Then that evening some members took us out to their house in the middle of nowhere and we ate there and then we went to the ward family home evening where all the missionaries leaving were able to say goodbye and stuff.

Wednesday- my comp left pretty early in the morning to go to his new area in Los Alcaceres in Cartagena. I'll see him next Monday anyway, but I'll miss elder Pincock he was a fantastic comp and we had a solid 6 weeks together.  The rest of the day i just spent it with the other elders in Alicante and we actually were able to visit someone who lives in this super nice beach house in a pueblo called San Juan Playa and it was sweet! Lots of tourists and rich Europeans live around there.  But this place had like a private elevator and a huge movie room. It was the nicest place I've ever been to in the mission.  Then i went to ward council and we talked about things we can do to improve the missionary work in the ward. Then i went and picked up my fantastic new Swedish Companion Elder Kärn. I think I'm mentioned it, but he was my district leader when i was in Sevilla so i already know him well.  He is super super super cool.

Thursday- we did weekly planning and i''m grateful i have only 5 of those left.  That evening we were just running around between appointments with a less active in the area of the previous elders.  Then we taught our Nigerian investigator God's Time and were able to watch the restoration video and clarify some things about that and committed him to come to church.  Then we had a family home evening with a less active family who is coming back to church now and doing super well. It was a really good family home evening.

Friday- that day, even though we had set up some appointments, just kind of failed on us and we ended up knocking on lots of doors, talking to lots of people in the streets, and things in Alicante are just complicated right now because all the huge festivals are starting so it's getting pretty crazy and people aren't too spiritual right now.

Saturday- we played futbol that morning with some members and less actives and it was way fun. God's time was going to come but he said he had chores he had to do so that he could come to church on Sunday, which was fine by us. Futbol was way fun though, although it was incredibly hot and humid! That evening we taught Frank Lourdes and Erica and it was a good lesson. Then we taught a less active and helped out with some stuff in his house in San Vicente.

Sunday- wow, church was really good! We had 5 investigators at church! Some of the highlights were that God's time was able to come, and the father of the less active family i was talking about on Monday also came to church. His name is Santiago and he's fresh from Colombia, as in he just got here like a week ago. We set up a lesson with him for this Friday. Also, a few less active families we are working with came to church and it was super awesome!

I continue just loving the mission incredibly.  I feel like I've learned more in my mission about myself, about life, and of course about the gospel than in my whole life.  I have the opportunity to meet so many amazing people and something I've loved about the mission is just seeing to gospel being applied in the life of the people, no matter where they are from or what circumstances they face.  Those who truly live the gospel of Christ are happy.
