Week 18: Cadiz Casco Antiguo, Cadiz District

3:17 PM

Monday- we didn't do too much for p day. Just played some ping pong and stuff so it was just a regular day. But after, we visited a family in our ward that we haven't seen in a while and it was way nice. They have a mentally challenged brother that lives with them named Jesus and he is the sweetest guy in the world. He always has the gospel on his mind, he talks about prophets and Christ and temples and those are about the only things he remembers. He is so awesome.

Tuesday- Woohoo! We had our mission conference for the west side of the mission in Sevilla today. It was really fun, there was a talent show thingy that was way funny, then we went and did a huge caroling, then we ate lots of food, then we had a more spiritual meeting, and then like our whole mission was scolded for not doing all the things we have to do to complete our residencies, but oh well. It was an awesome conference and I loved seeing so many great friends from my mission.

Wednesday- today was an insanely tiring day. We helped this member who is completely redoing an apartment, and it was grueling. We had to carry up and down, up and down, up and down two flights of stairs, huge boxes full of tiling that weighed probably 80lbs. I can't even count how many times we went up and down and it's been a while since my arms hurt that much. It was a good character builder. Then the member fed us which was nice. Then we taught English classes. Then we went and tried visiting some less actives, but Casco Antiguo was insane with partying that night so it was just weird. And nobody was home.

Thursday- happy New Year's Eve! So we were just required to work until 2:00 that day so we decided to try to visit the people we visited the night before, but many people were gone. So we were walking by a building and the door was open and I thought, "eh I've got nothing else I can think to do" so I walked in just to try and knock doors and something cool happened! The top floor, we met one of our members cousins and she was very nice and said we could come back and teach her more. Then we went and tried to visit another less active that I've never met before, and she was actually home which was cool! She is a fairly recent convert of about 1.5 years. She was very nice and she has a boyfriend who isn't a member, but is very religious in the Catholic Church and she said he's starting to ask more and more questions about our church, so we asked if we could meet him and she was a little hesitant, but I told her we weren't going to be super weird and instantly try and convert him or something and she said that would be okay. Then the rest of the day was just relaxing which was weird feeling. Then we had dinner at our members Jorge and Olgas house and the food was very very good! I ate lots and lots of shrimp.

Friday
- we had permission to sleep in! That was nice. Then we went to the church here In Cadiz and just celebrated as a zone. We made lots of food and played ping pong and foosball (still haven't lost ever) then I of course talked on Skype and That was way fun and that was Christmas! We also did a white elephant as a zone and I got pink fuzzy socks. Best Christmas ever! Other than the fact that our house has zero hot water right now so that's been a little miserable. One of our presents I guess was running out of the gas that warms our water. But that's okay.

Saturday- today was a bit of a hard day. Nobody was really home and the streets were absolutely insane. Everyone is preparing for tres Reys which is where they celebrate the three wise men and it's bigger than Christmas here. But we did get to meet with our favorite semi recent convert Anna. She told us how she was sharing the gospel with this random lady on the street and talking all about her baptism and how happy it made her, and then told us that she felt bad after because she thought she was taking our job!!!! We told her that's ridiculous and that she should share that with everyone! Now that we told her that, I'm pretty much sure she is going to, because she's just one of those people whose faith comes before literally everything.

Sunday
- normal day at church today except everyone's extended family was in town so there were so so many people! It was pretty fun, but a little noisy and our investigator Javi was there which is awesome. He's now going out with one of the young women in our ward which is... Interesting. I guess it gets him to church every week and we almost always have a member present when we teach him! After church we went to our favorite friend who always comes to English class Luis who loves missionaries but isn't such a fan of our church... But he and his wife are so nice to us, probably some of the nicest people I've ever met in my life and they also speak English perfectly. After that we went and had a family home evening and Javi was there and it was way fun.
