Elder Hirst week 85

10:47 AM

Monday- for p day just chilled with all the elders here and went and ate at the famous "Good Burger" Chain here in Spain, and then played some futbol all together. Man i love futbol now, never thought i really would. That evening we had a great family home evening with a family in the ward and Frank Lourdes and Erica came.  Love this area so much

Tuesday- district meeting in the morning, then we had exchanges with the elders serving in a small pueblo called Elda. They came down here and i was with Elder Liza from Peru.  Man we had a super super good exchange.  We were able to teach a lot of people as well as contact some great people in the street. One in particular was a guy we talked to who just didn't like one of those people you want to talk to lets say.  But we did and he was super weird at first and completely atheist but then said that he'd be interested in learning more from us. You can just never judge somebody in missionary work, it's the worst thing you can do, you'll miss out on so many opportunities.  We should just never judge in general.  I think of so many members here in spain who tell us that they were complete bums before knowing the church, and now they're bishops, quorum leaders, etc... so you can just never judge.  We also had the ward family home evening and had some investigators there so we went and it was fun.

Wednesday- we continued the exchange and i went with elder Erickson from Murray Utah, (lives like 5 minutes away from me) and we just knocked some doors and talked to some people. Met a guy from Syria, and some people from Finland so that was unusual. We don't exactly work in the tourist area here in Alicante. Then i was back with my comp and That evening we had many ward meetings like we do on Wednesdays. Such great and dedicated members here in Alicante.

Thursday- weekly planning in the morning, and then we had exchanges with the other elders in our ward, Elder Craven and Elder Moore.  I was with elder Moore and we had a great exchange as well, talked with some fantastic people and were able to teach some less actives.  While we were visiting a part member family here, one of their friends walked in and we introduced ourselves to her and were able to set up an appointment with her next week. Super awesome, and she's from El Salvador and people from there are my absolute favorite.  Also, the weird guy i had talked about from Tuesday came to the English classes we offer for free here, and he loved it and the elders were able to talk with him.  Again, we can never judge.

Friday- in the morning we were able to teach a less active member that morning and that was good.  Then that evening the 2 Alicante wards here have been planning a big classical concert here in the church and so we helped prepare for that.  There was some great musicians, a Violin player, Cello player, and a famous guest opera singer from Venezuela. As well as an Hermana here in alicante named Hermana Favero who received her masters in concert piano at BYU before the mission, so she is just phenomenal. We had tons of investigators at the concert, and many members invited their friends.  Also, the weird guy i mentioned back from Tuesday also came with his little sister!!! Awesome stuff. All in all, it was a great concert

Saturday- we plated futbol in the morning, had some investigators there as well and some friends of members.  Super fun.  Then that evening Erica had her baptismal interview and she passed it so she's super excited to be baptized next Saturday! Then as we went proselyting, we just randomly ran into our part member family we had been visiting moving some furniture from one apartment to their own. So we offered help and helped them.  Then we went and visited a member who can't come to church who lives in the pueblo here called San Vicente.

Sunday- church was great, we had lots of investigators there.  Then that evening was the farewell of a kid from Ward 2 and they asked that i play the clarinet in it.  Me and Hermana Favero played a beautiful rendition of Be still my Soul.  I sounded pretty rough around the edges (haven't practiced in a while...) but Hermana Favero is super good.  Oh well, throwing something together in 15 minutes without playing regularly, i didn't expect much more.  Anyway, it was a fantastic week!
