Week 48: Ciudad Real, La Mancha District

3:29 PM

Monday- just a regular p day. It was just so incredibly hot so we didn't want to be outside too much. That evening we did lots of contacting and we actually ran into one of our Bolivian investigators while contacting In a park and were able to talk to some of her friends. They gave us their info and said we could pass by so that was awesome.

Tuesday- district meeting that morning. Then that evening we had a lesson with flor and it was awesome. Flor is still going strong she's just so faithful and knowledgeable, teaching her is just the best. Later we went contacting while trying to get ahold of some investigators. We talked to a guy from Ghana who had lived in Libya and Italy and has been here a month. He doesn't speak Spanish, but he does English. We taught him there on a bench in the street and hope to see him later. Then we got information from a couple other people that night too. Unfortunately, we got to one of our new investigators house and they said they aren't really interested. But it was a good evening nonetheless.

Wednesday- the morning wasn't too great. The electricity went out at 4 am so we were without even fans to keep us cool. It keeps within the 90s and 100s and night so we just couldn't sleep at all. It was out until 8 am. Then, the power outage broke our water heater so we called our apartment owner and he said he'd come so we had to wait in the morning. Then he left to talk with the company but they were busy so he called and said it would be fixed that evening. (During all this we had to stay in the apartment waiting for the service technician who didn't come). But our evening was pretty good. First we went to the hospital so elder Esparza could get an MRI on his knees. Later we were able to meet with the guy from Ghana. His name is zakaria and he has quite the story in his life. He's only 17 and lives with a family that volunteers for the Red Cross. We took him to the church to show him it and taught him about the Book of Mormon. He is a truly humble and amazing kid and I pray with all my heart that we can help him learn more about how Jesus Christ can help his life.

Thursday- weekly planning for the morning. Then the evening was the evening of failed appointments. We had 3 set for that evening and they never came. So we just did what do when we run out of ideas for the day... Contact! We contacted this hilarious old lady in the park and as we were talking she said "look that's the priest from my church!" and she called him over and we talked with him for a while. He was a very nice man. Later We met a cool guy from Columbia who said he'd like to learn more. I really hope he's telling the truth... We've had some bad luck lately with people on the street giving us false info. One thing that was really funny, having 5 transfers here I can basically recognize the name of most streets more o less. We contacted one guy, introduced ourselves and started to talk but he said he was in a hurry. So I asked if we could stop by his house one day and share a message of Jesus Christ. I asked him where he lived and he replied "uuuuhhhhh (glances at my companion) street Chile." First of all I know there's no street chile here and also he made it obvious that he just said the first thing that came to his mind. Hahaha oh people, they are funny.

Friday- that morning we visited our investigator David. We were able to teach him the restoration and It went well. Later that day, all our appointments cancelled on us so we had some good back up plans to visit some of the members that live in Migueltura for the evening. We visited our district president and his family and Luis as well. They're amazing people.

Saturday- that morning we went to try and find some more addresses of people who we've talked with. The truth was, a lot of people have been giving us false information, but hey it's there loss. Later we helped one of our members decorate the chapel all nice inside with plants and flowers for our branch conference the next day. Later we had a branch activity where we all helped and did a very deep clean of the church. A lot of people came and it was wonderful. After, we had a family home evening and some food.

Sunday- we had our branch conference, and President Andersen and his wife came up to be a part of it. It was all centered on temples and families which was perfect as Flor is getting ready to go to the temple soon! Honestly, it's just the best feeling in the world to see a converts progression in the gospel. I'm so happy for her. Later we had interviews with president and i really loved it and I learned an incredible amount about myself as a missionary. Then we ate with the members and it was very good! Being summer here in Spain, I'm constantly drinking Gazpacho which is a cold soup made of blended tomato, pepper, garlic, and bread. I know for sure my mom is thinking "there's no way my son would ever like that!" (because I was kind of picky before my mission, something I feel I can definitely say I've gotten over). But the truth is I really like it. It's like the ultimate energy drink but that's actually really good for you.  Every time I drink it I feel rejuvenated. Then we met with Flor and talked about the Book of Mormon. It was a great day.
