Elder Hirst week 97

9:31 AM

Monday- with the other elders here in Alicante, we took the tram up to San Vicente, the pueblo to go to the outlet mall there.  We went to the Nike outlet mall and they had this huge sale on futbol Jerseys from the Paris futbol team so all of us elders bought them hahah.  When a futbol jersey is only 10 euros, we are all fans! That evening we had a family home evening with some members and investigators, including our new investigator, Santiago and it went really well.

Tuesday- We had district meeting in the morning.  Then that evening, we had exchanges with the elders here in Alicante.  I went with elder Wilson who is in his 2nd transfer of his training. He's super awesome and i really liked working with him, he's such a positive and effective missionary, even with the short amount of time he's been in the mission. He also is a great futbol player!! We were able to teach Santiago, then we gave Erica an English lesson, then we had the family home evening and we received some big news from Frank and Lourdes!!! They have decided to get married, and they finally have all the papers they need to do so. A week from Wednesday, we will be going down with them to the courthouse in order for them to receive a marriage date.  And it will be very important, because all the court houses are closed in august so either they'll be able to get married in July and then baptized, or they'll have to wait until September.  Of course the important thing is that they'll be baptized eventually, but it would be cool if i could see them be baptized before i go home. But if not, luckily Skype will exist for me at that point!

Wednesday- that morning we had a zone council, so all the district leaders in the zone came down and we had a meeting together and it went really good. We have some fantastic district leaders this transfer.  Then that evening we just had lots and lots of ward correlations and council meetings as well as choir practice. I love it, they think I'm so good at singing in the choir, but I really am not hahaha.

Thursday- we had weekly planning that morning (only 3 left!!!!) then that evening we went to contact a reference who a member gave us, and the reference actually wasn't there but another guy was there and it was cool. He told us in the door that he didn't believe in god because of all the bad things that happen in the world. He then opened up to us that he had actually tried taking his life the day before because he had arrived to such a down point in his life, but his son stopped him. He allowed us to enter and we talked about the plan of salvation with him. He was very touched and even allowed us to come back in a couple days. It was a great miracle.  Then that evening we had a great lesson with Oscar and one of the stake counselors and his family. Oscar is the special operations military investigator, and this stake counselor used to be Spanish military as well and is now a local police officer and the lesson went so incredibly well.  This family was such a good example for Oscar and were able to answer many of his questions.  Then that night we had a meeting with frank Lourdes and Erica and discussed the importance of the temple and talked about doing a fast with them this Sunday so that everything goes well the next Wednesday. It was a great day

Friday- that morning we resumed our exchange and i was with elder Sant who I've been with a lot in my mission.  He's in my group so we go home together, in other words it was a trunky exchange.  But we got some good stuff done. I actually did a baptismal interview for their investigator Antonio who is from the Netherlands.  He is such a nice guy and it's so amazing to see how excited he is about his baptism. That evening everything kind of fell thorough. But we were able to pass by an investigator we had found at the beginning of my time here in Alicante.  We went there and her son was actually there and he was a great kid and we were able to share a message with him.  Then i don't really remember what happened after that...we talked with some great people I'm sure!

Saturday- futbol was really fun, we had lots of less actives and investigators come as well.  Us elders wore our Paris jerseys so they put us on one team with some other people and we killed it!! Elder Wilson definitely carried the team, but we had a great time. Then it started pouring all the sudden. That evening was way rough. We went back to that guy we had taught on Thursday and things got sketchy. This guy answered and was not happy we were there. He forced us to go down the stairs and then started yelling and insulting us and even tried to take my iPad from me. But we were able to just keep our cool and walk away without making any issues. He clearly was on something... but anyway, we might not be passing by soon. Then that night we went to a park and contacted a lot because our appointment with "god's time" (the investigator) cancelled. We met some really nice people though!

Sunday- church was a bummer, not many of our investigators who said they would come, came.  They were good meetings and stuff and our fast was very focused on frank Lourdes and Erica so it made it spiritual.  So in the end it was good. My companion also did a baptismal interview for the elders in Benidorm for a girl named Maria from Romania. She too was very excited for her baptism. This zone truly is seeing some amazing miracles right now.
