Week 57

2:30 PM

Monday- we went and cut our hair, then we went and ate at a great burger place in Spain called Good Burger with some other missionaries of Sevilla, than me and elder Reseigh went to the monument of Sevilla called Las Setas, which means The Flat Topped Mushrooms. It's just a giant cool looking monument In the central and you go up it and can see all of Sevilla. It was cool. Then we basically spent The whole night searching for people, and just for the fun story, we were walking in one of the sketchier parts of a neighborhood, and we saw what appeared to be a drug trade going on, and then it appeared to go badly and a big fight started so we decided to walk away and act like we didn't see anything. Also, we taught a less active we've been working with, and he's just not making much progress.

Tuesday- district meeting in the morning was really great. We ate dominoes buffet after. That evening, we did some home teaching for a Brazilian family in our ward, and it's a little hard because the mom speaks only Portuguese. We can understand Portuguese just fine, but speak it...no idea. Well, we luckily have one of the most awesome members in our ward named Rafa and he's Brazilian as well, and speaks English perfectly (studied at Utah state) and of course Spanish, so he accompanied us and helped a ton. That evening there was a Sevilla vs Betis (the two big soccer teams of Sevilla) game in the Sevilla stadium (we live about 10 minutes walking from it) and it was crazy!!!! Sevilla is red and Betis is green, so it was just red and green everywhere. But there were tons of People and almost nobody wanted to meet unless we were going to watch the game with them. Luckily, we were able to squeeze in a family home evening with some members, and we were able to invite our Nigerian member, Morrison, too, so he got some more interaction with ward members. Still is working on the Spanish though... anyway, it turned it was a great family home evening, and later we found out Sevilla won 1-0 which is what most people expected because Betis isn't doing so hot lately.

Wednesday- we contacted some awesome Nigerian guys this morning! We hope to meet with them they seemed way cool. That evening we taught the recent convert Graci and unfortunately, she's moving for work to a pueblo of Córdoba so she will pertain to the branch of Córdoba. We'll miss her, but she'll be a great help to that branch.

Thursday- we taught Gabriela the recent convert in the morning, all went well. Then we did weekly Planning. After, we did exchanges with the missionaries in a pueblo of Sevilla called Dos Hermanas. I was with Elder Recio from Madrid (but his parents are from Paraguay) and we were working in the north part of our area. He's such an awesome guy, he's been in the mission for only 6 months but he's such a great missionary. We saw some awesome amazing miracles. We taught our new investigators from Bolivian, Jonathan and Yamil and we had a super super good lesson with them! They said they felt a ton of peace as they heard the message of the restoration. Then we had a lesson with a less active that is progressing named Yesus. He said he's coming this Sunday to church as well, and we talked about how if he continues coming, he will be able to be ordained a teacher. Then we had a family home evening with some members and their non member friend from Milan Italy. Man, the dude is way closed minded, but I just love talking to Italians, they make me laugh and I love the way they speak Spanish, it's super funny. We had a great day.

Friday- that morning we found a new investigator by accident! We knocked on the wrong door and it was this Dominican guy who had lived in New Jersey for a long time (he spoke English with a strong jersey accent). He had met the missionaries a while back but had no time to meet with them, but now he has said he has more time to meet. We taught a quick lesson and he seemed receptive so we hope to go back. Later we just kind of contacted and talked with great people, and then went home. From our new investigator, i learned that of Spain's top 10 most poor neighborhoods, 7 are in Sevilla. 5 of theses neighborhoods are my area. That evening was good, we met with a less active we had just found in the street from El Salvador. He's 26 and basically had to flee from his country and is here in Spain working as a waiter. He's really going through some difficulties but he opened up and we just listened. I think it helped him more than anything, he doesn't have friends or family so we just felt listening was more important.

Saturday- that morning, we did lots of contacting and trying to find some less active members. We were walking and this little 9 year old Romanian girl with her friend stopped us and said "your companions saved my dad's life." Apparently, her father had very bad cancer and the missionaries had known them and went over and gave him a blessing and he was completely healed two days after. She asked if we could come back to her house that evening and we said yes and then she looked at the Book of Mormon in my hand and said "can I have that book? We had one as a family but my cousin took it when he left and I wanted to read it." I gave her the book and immediately we saw her little friend look at the girl with longing in her eyes and we asked "would you like a book too?" And she just completely lit up and nodded. They both went and sat down on the ground and started looking at the picture of Christ in the cover and stared reading the Introduction together. That was enough to bring tears to the eyes. Later We stopped by the less active Gustavo and helped him with a little cabinet project he's working on in his house. We passed back by the Romanians and Well we went in to teach them, and I've never seen such humble circumstances. They are a family of 5 children and the mother is struggling a lot with many things and the father can't find work so he begs for money and food on the street. The little girl told us she had already read 3 pages of the book and wanted to learn how to pray so she wouldn't have fear of not having food. It caused me so much pain to see this, because there's not much we can do to help them financially. But we certainly will be praying for them and trying to help them receive the gospel because that will truly help them including in a physical sense, and I know it. The rest of the night was contacting and we met some great people.

Sunday- good day at church but it was a disappointment to see no investigator came to church. We tried really hard to get people there, but It just didn't turn out that way. But it was good nonetheless.
