Week 34: Ciudad Real, La Mancha District

7:25 AM

Monday- rained all p day again. Why can't it stop raining on p day! We wanted to go to a castle but it was just too cold and Rainy. That night we went out and did some contacting. Didn't find anything.

Tuesday- district meeting in the morning and I gave a lesson about adapting your teachings to your investigators. Then we had some exchanges and elder Miller who is from my group was with me in ciudad real. Basically to sum up our exchange, we talked with absolutely everyone. Just that night we probably talked to 30 people and we found 2 futures which is more than I've ever found in a night. Guess it just goes to show, talk with everyone and something eventually has to come. I really tried taking some advice from a story by cousin Jamison in his mission in Paris did and we would just go up to people and talk about whatever there was. If they had a dog, we would first talk about their dog. If they had a nice scarf, we'd talk about their scarf. We saw one guy wearing a John deer jacket so we talked about his jacket and how we have lots of John deers in the US and got talking about John deer tractors and other field equipment. Then We'd talk with them and get to know them, and then bring in a gospel message. It was actually really good because it meant we got to talk with a lot more people because I think people viewed us less as robots. Also something elder Miller taught me is to always stick out your hand for someone to shake it. There's a much better chance people will talk with you andfrom what I saw, people are more interested when someone shakes their hand, they kind of find it weird yet interesting I can imagine. So it was fun because we taught tons of people. Only 2/30 gave us any sort of information this night but it was fun. We also taught Alisia. She was so happy because she read the entire plan of salvation pamphlet. We read the Book of Mormon with her and talked about her baptism. She says she wants to get baptized but she doesn't feel prepared yet, she feels she needs to repent more. So we talked about how the thing with baptism is it washes away all our past sins and we can start again. She agrees but still wants more time.

Wednesday- talked to like another 40 people this morning. We got another 3 futures. One, we had walked by this guy without giving him something but I had a strong impression to go back and talk to him, and I was pretty dang proud of myself because I actually acted on the impression with no fear! We went and talked with him and he was receptive and gave us his number. Then we were knocking some doors (classic missionary and I haven't done it in a while) and met a Bolivian lady who said we could come back and talk with her more, and we left her a pamphlet. Then I was walking and I saw a guy with a sweatshirt that said "Berlin" so I yelled from across the street (which was empty at this time apart from him) "hey man I love your sweatshirt!" He stopped and we went to talk to him. I told him my brother lives there and Ive always wanted to go there (I say that about any place honestly). He was way nice and he just said he visited there the previous year. He asked who we were and we told him and talked to him about the restoration and gave him a Book of Mormon. And he gave us his number and  address! That never happens! So it was cool. Then I went to the train station and I reunited with elder Llavina again. We didn't have a lot that night other than English classes and our student who comes every week and speaks basically perfectly just passed the highest Level of English in Europe so he was way happy and was grateful we have helped him so much. Also Toni (who we haven't seen for a while) and his older sister came.

Thursday- weekly planning in the morning. Then We tried calling all of the futures we got. Well, two of them were fake and the other two said to call the next week. It was a little disappointing because we worked really hard but not a lot came from it but that's alright. So we went out to keep trying. Not much came from it again though. We're making a big push to find new people.

Friday- we spent the entire morning trying to find some new investigators. We talked to a lot of people in the street and tried finding some old investigators and we came out pretty dry so we were down and decided to go to a sweet restaurant called Crónicas Carniveras which is famous for having hosted the show Man Vs. Food from the US for its challenge of a 2KG burger under 45 minutes. It's a franchise here in Spain  now and they recently opened it up here. We didn't do the challenge... But had huge burgers! Then we went to meet with some Less actives but the appointments failed us and also a reference we received, we had set an appointment her but she failed us too. Man this week turned out a little rough... Then after we met with the family that are friends of Kriss and it was fun, we made pancakes for them and well... They didn't like them too much. Spaniards have very traditional taste buds I guess. Pancakes aren't a thing here. But it was fun. They still don't want to learn about the church so that's hard for us because we love them a lot but one day.

Saturday- we had a big activity with Daniel and Nancy and the "dry members" and kriss. We went to the mountains of Ciudad real to have a picnic and spend some time together and teach a lesson but it started to absolutely pour rain. So we all went to Kriss's house to watch "meet the Mormons" our investigators absolutely loved it. They especially loved the part with the missionary going out. That movie dramatizes that part a whole lot and don't get met wrong it was a dramatic moment, but it's a lot in the movie. So our investigators all started feeling so bad for us and asking us if it was that hard and what not, and I mean it was at the beginning, but you get over it quick. But it was just funny to us. We talked to Daniel and Nancy about everything, and they are still doing amazing. They try and watch a conference talk every single night! That's better than almost every member of this church! They also are halfway through Mosiah so they're going to catch up to me in the Book of Mormon real quick. They're the best honestly.

Sunday- church went well this morning. Daniel and Nancy were there and there was a perfect talk given by a member for them. It was nice though and there was a good amount of people there. Then after church we did some branch finance stuff. That took some good time. Then we ate at Ana's house and she was the member who has been in the hospital for a bit but she's better now. We also got to meet the new baby of president Carlos and his wife Anita and he is way cute. They're obviously very sleep deprived with their very first brand new child. But all is good with that. The rest of the night was elder Llavina doing district leader stuff and also dealing with some arising problems with Daniel and Nancy but it hopefully will turn out okay
