Elder Hirst week 69

11:48 AM

Monday- for p day we just went to the center of Sevilla and ate at Taco Bell (which is right in front of the giant cathedral of Sevilla). Monday evening we just had a lot of failed appointments but we talked with some great people in the street

Tuesday- we had district meeting and it was good, then we ate at the house of some of the very first members ever here in sevilla, the Baena family. They are so awesome their life goal has basically been to treat the missionaries like their children.  Tuesday evening we were accompanied by one of the best members ever, Rafa from Brasil and we visited a less active from el salvador, juan carlos who committed to come to church this week. He said if he didn't come to church, we could assume he had died, that's how bold his commitment was. Then we stopped by our number 1 investigator, Sonia, and we taught her with Rafa and it was an awesome lesson and we invited her to be baptized and she said she would if she felt prepared, so that's awesome!!!!

Wednesday- that morning it was super rainy, so usually contacting people in the rain doesn't work, but we just decided to do it anyway and we saw some amazing miracles! We contacted a ton of people who were so interested, one guy even said "it's so interesting that you talked with me today, just this morning i was thinking about how my parents used to always take me to church, but now i don't and i've been thinking i want to be closer to god." Unfortunately, basically none of the people we contacted live in our area, but that's okay. That evening we taught a man from Morocco that we had found in the street. He was raised in the islamic faith, but he married a christian woman. We have met with him before, and he basically after looked up just about everything there is about our church on the internet (which isn't always accurate) so he knew a lot already and had tons of questions.  We were able to give him a book of mormon in Arabic and he was actually super happy and said he would read it so we'll see what happens.  He's a very open and kind person, i respected him a lot

Thursday- we got a call that morning from some of our Nigerian investigators saying that they were having their first interview with the government in order to be married, and they needed some of our help so we went to the government building and helped them with that and they were very grateful.  Then that evening we had exchanges in our area with the elder in Dos Hermanas. I went with Elder Booth from California City, California and we had a good exchange, we first visited Morrison, the recent convert from nigeria, and he actually is going to the temple the next day to do baptisms for his ancestors! Then did some home teaching to a part member family from Brazil, and we went with rafa from brazil, and some of the people in the home only speak Portuguese so it was fun.

Friday- we continued the exchange and we basically just visited a less active family from Bolivia and continued talking to people in the street. That evening elder owens and i had just about everything fall through, and i can't think of anything special that happened that night

Saturday- in the morning, we had correlation with our ward mission leader, Antonio and it went well. Then after we had a super cool evening.  We called this guy from brazil we had contacted in the street like a month ago, and he said he could meet! We met with him in a park, and he's only lived in Spain for like 1.5 months, so our lesson was in Sportuguese (spanish and Portuguese, its like Spanglish you know?) but it's cool to see really how similar those languages are, there were moments where we couldn't understand, but hey he has some good potential.  Then we met with those Nigerian investigators we helped on thursday and they said they would for sure come to church on christmas! Then we met a new less active member and he was way nice and said he'd come to church on christmas too.

Sunday- church was great, we had lots of less actives in church which is so great to see.  Then after church, we went with the less active from El salvador to his house to make lunch with him, and he showed us how to make some typical Salvadorian food and it was absolutely delicious and we now know how to make it.  You know, my mom before my mission said that I had to learn how to make Paella before i come home, and i still haven't done that but i've learned how to make Bolivian food, Peruvian food, Panamanian food, Chilean food, Venezuelan food, Dominican food, Salvadorian food, a some Ecuadorian food, and some Nigerian food too, and of course some Spanish food.  After that we went and gave the sacrament to all of the elderly widows of the ward and that was so fun, I always love visiting the elderly.

Only missionaries would be excited about the new
                                       priesthood manual.
