Elder Hirst week 82

Monday- p day was crazy. It rained an insane amount and the streets all flooded. So we stayed in the church all day and when p day ended we walked outside and there was a river running through the streets. So we had no other options and we just went and our shoes got soaked. The water was up to our calves it was insane. We went out and visited a very sick member who hasn't been able to come to church in a while and we taught him and he was such a nice humble man. Then we luckily were picked up by members (they should've picked us up in a boat though) and took us to a family home evening.

Tuesday- we had district meeting and it was good. That evening we met with a Nigerian less active who had some health issues so we gave him a blessing. Then we had a ward meeting that evening to talk about our mission activity this Saturday. Then we were able to meet with frank Lourdes and Erica and we read 3nephi11 all together!

Wednesday- Wednesday morning we had a great miracle. We were able to meet with two new investigators from Nigeria. They had investigated the church in Madrid because their uncle is a member. They had some great questions and really wanted to know about baptism. Then we had a meeting with the bishop who i love so much here. Then we had more meetings that evening with the ward leaders. The rest of the evening, i don't remember really what happened, but Im sure it was a good

Thursday- Weekly planning in the morning, and then we got to go to the area of our district leader and his companion and do exchanges in a different part of Alicante. Now this was cool. We went and met with a less active family named the Chachalos who are from Ecuador. When they met me they freaked out because they were baptized in Ecuador by an elder Hirst. Turns out that Elder Hirst that baptized them was my cousin Michal Hirst. They showed me pictures and everything. Then we taught English class that evening.

Friday- we finished the exchange that morning then that evening my companion and i met with the New Nigerian Investigator Heis. We invited her to baptism and answered a lot of her questions about the church and she's really excited to keep learning and said she would be baptized. She's pregnant right now so we put the date for after when the baby is due so she can get that all figured out, which is in may. Then we met a cool Colombian guy who's less active and taught him. We plan on meeting with him more to help him

Saturday- Today is the big day of the multiward international activity. We just set it up and got a bunch of stuff ready. The activity consisted in typical dances from many different countries, and food from each country. As missionaries we prepared lots of typical American food, grilled cheese, peanutbutter and jelly, brownies, and cookies. Also we brought 16 liters of koolaid. It turned out to be a fantastic activity with lots of great food and tons of people. Even us Americans got permission from pres to do Cotton-eyed-joe dance and it was way fun and we were a big hit.

Sunday- We had a great Sunday with 4 investigators and church, but we were sad some people we had expected to come didn't show. But we'll be working on it this week! Also, we got transfers and me and my companion will be staying together here in Alicante. In fact our entire district is going to be staying together here in Aicante! That's super rare that that happens!

it was a super awesome week full of tons of miracles. I love the mission a ton and I'm sorry if my emails have gotten a little lame, but love you all and thanks for all your support

Elder Hirst week 81

Monday- P day was way fun, we took a train down to Elche, and took a hike to a waterfall with lots of missionaries. It was a very great time. That evening we had the usual family home evening with some of the ward members and it was good .

Tuesday- We had district meeting and it went well. Then we had exchanges with the district leader of our district Elder Craven and his companion elder Moore. I was with Elder Moore, from Virginia, and we had a great exchange, I love elder Moore a ton he's a super cool guy and we basically just hit the streets and talked with a lot of people and found some great people.

Wednesday- We continued the exchange and basically did the same thing as the previous day, and too found some great people in the streets, many of which were people who had just moved to Spain from some non Spanish speaking country, including a french girl which was way awkward because i don't speak any french, later some Brazilians, which is better because you can at least sort of understand between Spanish and Portuguese, and a Bulgarian guy. Good times. That evening I was back with my comp and we had lots of meetings with the ward leaders and it was good.

Thursday- Weekly planing went well, and then we were able to pass by a lot of people that night, and we were able to teach Frank Lourdes and Erica and we talked a lot about baptism with Erica and how the marriage papers are going for frank and Lourdes. Erica still doesn't feel like she's quite ready but feels like she will get baptized, and the marriage papers are going good. This family is doing so well, it's just been a testimony to me to see how much the gospel has transformed their family.

Friday- We taught the less active Jaime who has been doing so incredibly well, he's been coming to church 3 weeks in a row now. Then that evening we had more exchanges with the district leader of the other district in Alicante, Elder Acevedo who goes home in less than 2 weeks, and his companion elder Erickson. I was with Elder Acevedo from California and we were super busy all night, we were able to teach quite a few investigators and less actives, and eventually we taught Angel the recent convert here who continues doing incredibly well. He blessed the sacrament last week and now has a calling. He feels very happy to have the gospel in his life

Saturday- most Saturday mornings, the two Alicante wards play futbol at the church, and the rule as missionaries is we can only go to futbol if we have someone we are teaching (less active, recent convert, investigator) who comes. Well we've never actually gone, but now Frank has started to come so we went and it actually turns out that a ton of less active YSA from our area that we've been trying to meet have been going to futbol so we got to meet some of them and it was a really good time. Us missionaries still all suck compared to these people! That evening my companion unfortunately got quite sick so we had to stay in, but it gave me a chance to give the apartment a good ol deep cleaning.

Sunday- Church was very good. The most packed I've ever seen it ever. Every single seat was filled and this chapel doesn't have an overflow so there were even people standing in the back. An entire row was taken up by member Swedish tourists here on vacation so we had to do a ton of translation. I also was asked last minute to give a talk, so i did. All in all it turned out to be a great meeting. Then we actually were able to go teach the restoration to one of the people me and elder Moore met on our exchange, and it went great! She's from Bolivia and seems to have some good potential.

It was a fantastic week!!!! Man is time flying by... i just don't want it to end so soon.

Elder Hirst week 80

Monday- P day was fun, we had interviews with president here in alicante, so a lot of the zone was able to come down, and we played Futbol for like 4 hours and it was way fun. That evening we talked with Jesus about really taking things seriously, and he admitted he hadn't put any initiative forth but said he would start. Than we had a family home evening with some of the ward.

Tuesday- we met with a less active member Jaime that morning and he's doing so so awesome, he came to church last week and he's been coming a lot. That evening was so crazy! Well, J

esus has been living with a member, and lets just say things weren't going well with that. Well the member called us and wanted us to go over quickly to his house so we did. Turns out, Jesus is a professional Con Man who goes from city to city in spain, conning people for their money in some way or another, and so here in alicante he had Conned a bunch of people. One of these unhappy people knocked on the door of this member looking for Jesus (who had already left) and his intentions were definitely... violent. So it turns out jesus has fled and is most likely on his way to another city after having conned over 1,000 euros form people here in alicante. Hahaha, a pretty interesting investigator, that's for sure! We also met with frank Lourdes and Erika and they are doing so so well

Wednesday- we had a good day, we were a able to help a less active who had also come to church the previous sunday. He's having some difficulties but he's doing good. Then that evening, we had lots of meetings with ward leaders and stuff and it went well. Then we were able to meet with our recent convert angel, and he continues doing great, he actually is going to pass the sacrament this sunday, and the home teachers have been helping him a lot.

Thursday- We had weekly planning, and then that evening we were able to meet with the other recent convert, Blanca and she continues doing well, just issues health wise but she is overcoming it. Then the hermanas needed us to teach their english class, so we did so and it was fun, but man i dont like teaching English, it's just hard. English is a hard language.

Friday- we had a zone conference in Murcia, so we went down there and it was way fun. We learned a lot, and we were able to see a ton of friends from the mission. We went back and were able to teach frank Lourdes and Erika how to do a family home evening and it went great.

Saturday- we invited frank wth us to go play futbol with the ward, and it was way fun, we played in the rain meaning lots of people fell and got slightly injured. Then that evening we were able to teach a new investigator from Guinea Ecuatorial ( the only spanish speaking country in Africa). There's actually a ton of people here from there and we were able to teach her and it went great and set a return appointment. Then we met with angel again and help him iron his white shirt which he's going to wear this sunday, and tie a tie.

Well I'm super grateful for this week, I was able to learn a ton and i continue seeing the lord work in me and my life. I've truly seen the scripture in DyC 58:3 3 Ye cannot behold with your natural eyes, for the present time, the design of your God concerning those things which shall come hereafter... we may not understand the reason for things now, but god has plan in everything

Elder Hirst week 79

Monday- p day was way fun, we went bowling as all the missionaries here in Alicante and it was way fun. A member also taught us how to cook a famous Alicantino desert which is basically thick french toast with cinnamon. That evening we had a family home evening with some members and our investigators Lourdes, Frank and their daughter Erika. They're doing way well.

Tuesday- We went to visit the districts in Elche, because our zone is comprised of two large cities, and we hardly get to see the missionaries in Elche so we went and visited them to get to know them. Later, we had exchanges with the Elders from Elche, elder Smithson and elder Gomez. I went with elder Gomez in the exchange and it was awesome. Elder Gomez is from Chile, so i got to be with another Chileno! I love Chilenos! We had a great exchange, and were able to teach first Jesus (which isn't going well) and then later we visited Lourdes Frank and Erika, and they are doing so awesome! They would be baptized but they are working on getting legally married. Frank at the end of the lesson said he was going to go to the court the next day to see what they need to do to get married so they can be baptized.

Wednesday- we continued on the exchange, and then finished and had a district meeting here in Alicante, our district here in awesome too. That evening we had lots of meetings here in the ward.

Thursday- we had weekly planning, and then all of us elders here in alicante were invited to our district leader Elder Craven's apartment for lunch and it was way fun. Then that evening we really focused on trying to find some new people, and we met some good people. Then we were once again able to meet with frank Lourdes and Erika and focused a lot of trying to strengthen their family to be more United through the gospel.

Friday- that morning we contacted a lot and it was fun. Then we an investigator named Juliet from Columbia, and she just isn't really not keeping her commitments, but we talked about the importance of that, so we'll see what happens. Then we had exchanges with the Elders from Elda, Elder Rojas and elder Gray, two missionaries i have been with a lot in my mission. I was with elder Gray, and the exchange we went well, we were able to talk with a lot of people. We had a lot of stuff set up, but it all failed, but it's all good, we had some other great things happen.

Saturday- That morning we continued the exchange and were able to teach some Ecuadorian people we found, but they didn't end up wanting anything. Then that evening, back with my companion, we visited a less active with a member, and it went way well. Then we visited our recent convert, Angel, who is such an awesome guy and he's doing well. Then we visited a different less active named Joseph and that was interesting.

Sunday- church was awesome, we had the less active we had visited yesterday come to church, all our recent converts come, and frank Lourdes and Erika come. It was a great Sunday.

Anyway, as always things are going awesome. I'm so grateful to keep working as a missionary and having such amazing experiences. The mission is the best!!!
